Airports
Overview
SSI’s collection systems are guaranteed to meet any FAA or USACE requirements. Airports have traditionally used the CS8500 California Profilograph. Airport projects now have the choice of using either the California Profilograph or an inertial profiler.
Traditional CS8500 Equipment For Airfields
The smoothness specification for airfields was based on the ASTM E1274 California Profilograph. SSI is the sole supplier of California Profilographs.

The Future of Airfield Profiling
The specifications are changing to match the DOT and highway methods using the inertial profiler. The inertial profiler systems for airfields will use a single track, instead of the dual wheelpath systems typically found on highway projects. For this, the single track CS9400 is ideal for airfield collections.
Don’t forget to view the CS9400 Zero-Speed inertial profiler which does not require run up or run out and can collect data between 0-100 mph.
