Navigate to Localized Roughness With The CS7900
The CS7900 Real Time GPS tool is the first of its kind on-equipment tool for precision GPS based navigation through pavement profile data collected with an inertial profiler, or profilograph or walking profiler. The CS7900 eliminates the labor and lane closures associated with pre-painting areas on the pavement for corrective milling or diamond grinding. The CS7900 imports previously collected surface profiles and displays the real time GPS in relation to the profile stations (chainage). The ruggedized GPS hardware configurations are offered at accuracies of 2 inches (0.05 meters) with a reasonably priced third party annual subscription or 0.7 meter (2.3ft) accuracy without subscription. The CS7900 is supplied with SSI’s Profiler 3 software, which is highly configurable for the details displayed on the supplied Toughbook rugged display viewed by the machine operator. The displayed attributes include actual shape of the road (peaks, troughs), Continuous IRI, localized roughness values, distance between areas to be corrected, head height adjustments, ProVal recommended grind areas, and more.
Measure Distance With the CS1100
SSI’s GPS distance measurement devices offer an easy, high accuracy solution to a historically cumbersome process. Put away the measuring wheel, as SSI’s in-vehicle CS1100 devices provide quick distance measurements with high confidence in both accuracy and repeatability. The CS1100 devices use an embedded GPS receiver sampling at 10Hz with satellite based corrections. The unit is powered by the vehicle’s standard 12VDC power supply; a battery powered CS1100 in a rugged enclosure is available for use outside a vehicle.
No calibration is required. Simply plug in the CS1100 and the GPS coordinates quickly enable the device for distance measurement in English or Metric units. The CS1100 is accurate to within 0.05% under standard operating conditions—much more robust than dashboard mounted devices relying only on vehicle speed data. For where GPS signal is poor or drops, the CS1100 devices can be connected to the vehicle’s on-board diagnostics port (OBD-II) to track distance using the vehicle velocity information. The CS1100 is offered in several configurations with varying capabilities and feature sets.
